DC-DC Converter, for charging a 12V or 24V service battery (bank) in vehicles with a smart alternator of Euro 5 or Euro 6 engine. Alternators controlled by onboard electronics often supply too low charging voltage even with the engine running → BuckBoost is necessary to charge the extra battery. Charges auxiliary battery with a pre-set voltage, eliminating high and low voltages. Can be programmed to charge a 12V or 24V battery from either 12V or 24V alternator and starter battery. Charging lithium batteries with an alternator without temperature protection: voltage control of the alternator cannot anticipate zero resistance of lithium battery systems: alternator must be protected against overload (and over heating). Deep discharge of the vehicle’s starting battery is avoided by a built-in “engine running” detection system: Buck-Boost provides power only when the engine is running. It can also be activated by programmable input (D+, CAN bus or (+) 15 connection). Fully programmable by means of a simple and user-friendly PC application (USB A-B male -cable needed). Input and output voltage range: 10-30VDC, low voltage threshold: 10V, max charge current 100A (@12V) – 50A (@24V), power consumption in a power save mode (converter and leds off): 7mA, operating temperature -25°C … +60°C. Charge current and input current limiter is determined by following factors: max charge current setting, max input current setting, max operating temperature limit of converter. Input and output status indicated with multicolor leds.
